Synthesis and Characterization of Cadmium Substituted Copper Ferrite Nano- particles by Citrate Gel Method

Cu1- xCdxFe2O4 Nano- particles were prepared by citrate precursor method with x varying from (0.0, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1). The powder samples were subsequently characterized by using X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD), Transmission electron microscopy TEM, Scanning electron microscope SEM, Thermo-gravimetric analysis (TGA) and FT-IR. X-ray diffraction studies show single cubic phase formation with the particle size in the range of 23-19 nm when calcined at 4000C. X-ray density and lattice parameters were calculated. Lattice parameter increases linearly with increasing concentration of cadmium due to larger ionic radii of Cd2+ ion. The unit cell parameter is found to increases linearly with increase in concentration of cadmium The observed results can be explained on the basis of composition.
