Summary:

A novel Filgrastim production and purification technology consists on expressing the chimeric protein coupled to a nano-encapsulating protein so as to facilitate its purification. Filgrastim is a chimeric recombinant protein similar to the naturally occurring protein, granulocyte-colony stimulating factor (G-CSF). G-CSF is produced in the body by the immune system and stimulates the formation of neutrophils that take part in the inflammatory reaction, responsible for detecting and destroying harmful bacteria and some fungi. Filgrastim is produced in E. coli through genetic engineering and recombinant DNA technology. Using genetic engineering tools, Recombinant Filgrastim is produced in SF9 insect cells using a Baculovirus Expression Vector System providing higher yields at lower costs than mammalian cultures, while preserving protein structure and ensuring effectiveness
