Microsystems Enabled Photovoltaics (MEPV)

Renewable & Hydrogen Energy

Prototype

Sandia’s MEPV team has developed microscale photovoltaic (PV) cells using microsystems tools and manufacturing techniques familiar to the semiconductor industry. With dimensions as small as 100-μm wide and 10-μm thick, these miniaturized PV cells convert photons from the sun or any other light source into electricity.
