Hydrogen Sensing Tape to Visually Pinpoint Hydrogen Leaks: Gas Permeable Matrix to Encapsulate Active Chemochromic Compounds (pigments) with Enhanced Hydrogen Sensing Performance

Technology Area: Renewable & Hydrogen Energy

Commercial Maturity: Ready to Market

Abstract: Inexpensive, portable, and simple-to-use passive chemochromic hydrogen detection device includes gas permeable matrix substrate and H2 sensitive color changing pigments. The substrate, polymer or ceramic, encapsulates the H2 sensitive pigments which change color in the presence of small quantities of H2 (ppm). Does not require an external power source.
