Zinc/Ion Pseudo-Capacitor

Technology Area: Energy Storage

Commercial Maturity: Prototype

Abstract: Ionova Technologies is developing the Metal/Ion Pseudo-Capacitor (MIP), a novel energy storage device that extracts the prodigious charge storage capacity of metals in electrolytic solution as anode functionality, combined with a capacitive or pseudocapacitive cathode. The first MIP combines zinc and an engineered carbon in a Zinc/Ion Pseudo-Capacitor “ZIP Cap”.
