Milton Harris Professor of Materials

Oregon State University

Professor Mas Subramanian is the Milton Harris Chair of Materials in the Department of Chemistry at Oregon State University. After receiving a Ph.D. in Materials Chemistry (1981) from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, India, he was a postdoctoral fellow at Texas A&M University. Prior to joining Oregon State University (2006), he spent 22 years as scientist at the in DuPont Company. His research interest focuses on the designing new inorganic solid state functional materials for emerging applications in electronics, solid-state energy conversion (e.g. thermoelectrics), energy conservation (e.g. cool pigments) and zero-waste catalysts. He has authored over 300 publications and hold 54 US patents. His publications have been cited more than 13,000 times with an h-index of 52. He is the editor of two international journals (Solid State Sciences and Progress in Solid State Chemistry) and a member of the editorial board in many international journals. He has received many honors and awards including prestigious Charles Pedersen Medal awarded by DuPont Company for Excellence in Scientific and Technical Achievement (2004) and Chemical Research Society of India International Medal (2012).
