Eric Daniels

Eric Daniels

Regional President, Bosch Solar Energy, North America

Robert Bosch LLC

Eric Daniels is the regional president for Robert Bosch LLC’s North American solar division, as of January, 2011.  In this position, he is accountable for developing and leading Bosch’s photovoltaic solar energy business.  During his time with Bosch, in addition to the commercial launch of the solar business, Mr. Daniels has filed for several patents including those related to Bosch-Solar Synchronized Loads.  This work opens new avenues for the deployment of solar systems in a manner that promises significant reduction in system cost and directly mitigates power intermittency, a common artifact of utility interconnected systems.  He is based in Mooresville, NC.

Prior to joining Bosch Solar Energy, Mr. Daniels led technology development for BP Solar as Chief Technology Officer and earlier as their Vice President for Global Sales.  Over his 7 years as their CTO, he and his team led the development of alternative silicon material & wafer growth techniques, as well as advanced cell and module materials and processes.  Some of this work led to the commercial launch of AMG IdealCast Solar, a spin out for the commercialization of a monocasting (also known as quasi-mono) technique that is now the basis for a substantial and increasing share of industry’s silicon solar wafer production.  As the Vice President of Global Component Sales (6 years), he led distribution and project sales for the Americas, Europe, Africa and S. Asia.  This work included the commercialization of residential systems for on and off-grid markets, commercial roofing, micro-grid development in developing regions and a turnaround of their S. American business.

Before joining BP Solar, Mr. Daniels’ prior work experience included senior commercial and technical roles for Siemens Solar, Integrated Power Corporation (a Westinghouse Co.), Solarex and Digital Analysis Corporation, an Inc. 500 software developer.

Daniels earned an MBA in the Management of Science, Technology and Innovation from George Washington University, a BS from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and completed BP sponsored executive classes from Stanford and the Kellogg school of management.
