C.Y (Chun-Yung) Sung

Nanoelectronics Research Sr. Program Manager

IBM Research Center, Hopewell Junction, NY

Dr. C.Y (Chun-Yung) Sung currently is IBM Research Center Nanoelectronics Research Sr. Program Manager for DARPA CERA Program (Carbon Electronics for RF Applications), IBM Industrial Liaison and Post CMOS Nanoelectronics Program Director for the Institute for Nanoelectronics Discovery and Exploration (INDEX), a multi-university research center being established under the SRC\'s Nanoelectronics Research Initiative (NRI). This center focuses on new device concepts that look beyond the field effect transistor to computational state vectors other than electronic charge. He was the manager of exploratory device technology process Integration department of IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY. His research interests also include carbon electrononics, hybrid orientation substrate, ultra shallow junction and next generation CMOS and SRAM technologies. He received M.S., Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI in 1994,1996 respectively. His Ph.D thesis work studied ultrafast carrier transport dynamics in high speed device. In 1996, he joined Applied Materials Rapid Thermal Division, Santa Clara, CA, where he was engaged in rapid thermal processes for high K gate oxide and silicides. In 1997, he joined VLSI Research and Development Department in Bell Laboratory, Lucent Technologies, where he involved in BiCMOS RF Mixed Signal Device development and lead EDRAM process integration and research by using high K MIM capacitor and 0.25um, 0.18um, 0.15um CMOS technologies. In 2001, he joined IBM Semiconductor Research and Development Center in East Fishkill Hopewell Junction, NY as development scientist and lead engineer, where he was involved in and lead process integration development of deep trench technologies for 0.11mm and 90nm Vertical Transistor DRAM project and 45nm/32nm CMOS logic technology development work.
