Suzie Hwang Pun

Associate Professor of Bioengineering

University of Washington

Suzie Hwang Pun obtained her BS on Chemical Engineering at Stanford University, and her Masters and PhD in Chemical Engineering, Minor in Biology, at the California Institute of Technology. Her thesis advisor was Mark E Davis. Suzie was a Senior Scientist at Insert Therapeutics before joining the faculty at the University of Washington in 2003.

The Pun Lab is part of the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Washington. They are also associated with University of Washington\'s Center for Nanotechnology. Nanoparticle formulations of imaging and therapeutic delivery agents are revolutionizing biomedical technologies. Currently there are several approaches being developed for cell-specific targeting of nanoparticles from systemic administration, but the fate of these particles inside the cell is often not well controlled. The Pun Lab research focuses on advancing macromolecule drug delivery technology by developing materials that overcome transport limitations in tissues and within cells. They are integrating techniques from engineering, chemistry, and cell biology to achieve this goal.
