Erik Garnett

Stanford University

Erik Garnett received his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley, under the direction of Professor Peidong Yang. Over the last decade, he has been involved in renewable energy technology research spanning from electrochemical studies of fuel cell catalysts to optical measurements of extreme light trapping in silicon nanowire photonic crystal solar cells. His graduate research focused on semiconducting nanowire synthesis, characterization and integration into electronic devices including transistors, capacitors, thermoelectrics and solar cells. He is currently a postdoctoral scholar in the Materials Science and Engineering department at Stanford University working with Professors Mike McGehee, Yi Cui and Mark Brongersma on advanced nanostructured solar cells.
