Dr. Andrew Whelton is an Assistant Professor at the University of South Alabama. Andrew has a variety of work experiences in the private, government, and academic sectors and is passionate about conducting research to investigate and solve problems that affect our natural and built environments. As a multidisciplinary trained civil/environmental engineer, Andrew has expertise in polymer science, analytical chemistry, food science, and nanoengineering. Dr. Whelton has received several honors that include a National Research Council Fellowship, National Science Foundation, IGERT Fellowship, and a Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education Fellowship. Andrew received his undergraduate (?00) and graduate (?01, ?09) degrees from Virginia Tech. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering specializing in potable water system monitoring and polymer pipe deterioration/performance; A Masters degree in Environmental Engineering focussed on environmental treatment technologies and processes; and, a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in environmental systems
