Optical Properties of Ternary Alloyed Cd1-xZnxSe Semiconductor Nanocrystals

In order to obtain high quantum yield (QY) nanocrystals and simplify the preparation procedure, one-pot synthetic method is conducted to prepare ternary alloyed nanocrystals. Ternary alloyed Cd1-xZnxSe (x=0, 0.2, 0.5, 0.8 and 1) semiconductor nanocrystals with high quality are synthesized by the decomposition of organometallic precursor at high temperature route.It is found that the emission wavelength of nanocrystals shifts from 510 to 545 nm with increasing Zn content from 0 to 0.8. The FL properties of the obtained alloyed Cd1-xZnxSe nanocrystals (FWHM=28-30 nm) posses pure green color and uniform particle size distribution as well as high QY ( >45 %).The FL and HRTEM results show that the emission wavelength of QDs increases when increasing the amount of Zn under the same particles size, therefore, the wavelength shift is not caused by particle size effect. It is evidence that the Cd1-xZnxSe nanocrystals show nonlinear optical properties, which is caused by the compositional effect.
