Contrast Enhancement for Low Dose Imaging with Hole-Free Phase Plate TEM

Abstract:

Phase contrast and radiation damage in a transmission electron microscope are critical issues to bio or other beam sensitive samples. Zernike phase plate technique has been demonstrated promising results compared with traditional phase contrast methods. we report the application of low-dose hole-free phase plate (HFPP) imaging in a TEM to radiation sensitive (bio) nano-materials. The HFPP images of an ice-embedded protein sample has been demonstrated with and without HFPP in this abstract.
