Nanofluids are dilute colloids, liquid suspensions of nanoparticles with at least one of their principal dimensions smaller than 100nm. They have generated considerable interest for their potential to increase cooling and heating efficiency in industrial applications such as nuclear reactors, hybrid engines, geothermal energy production, and electronics. This symposium will explore the fundamental properties of nanofluids while emphasizing the many applications for these novel nanostructured fluids.

The 2013 Nanofluids symposium will have a particular focus on applications in the nuclear, oil and gas industries
