Dr. Zhenguo “Gary” Yang is a Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of UniEnergy Technologies, LLC, a Seattle based clean energy company with focus on scale up and commercialization of next generation vanadium redox flow batteries for renewable integration and electrical grid applications. Previously, Dr. Yang was a Lab Fellow at the US Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National laboratory, where he led extensive efforts in RD&D of varied electrochemical energy storage technologies, including redox flow, Na-metal halide, Li-ion batteries and some new electrochemical storage concepts in particular for utility applications. Earlier he served as a technical lead in solid oxide fuel cells and hydrogen storage RD&D at the lab. Dr. Yang has authored/co-authored over 200 research papers and is an inventor/co-inventor of over 50 US and foreign patents (including pending). Dr. Yang was elected Fellow of ASM International, in recognition of his “outstanding contribution in advanced materials and electrochemical energy conversion and storage”. He received his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from the University of Connecticut and further trained as a postdoctoral fellow at Carnegie Mellon University.
