As one of the newest and most promising members of the family of carbon nanomaterials, Graphene presents novel regulatory challenges that should be considered by any company seeking to commercialize the material. Recent scientific studies have attempted to portray certain forms of Graphene as a significant environmental, health, and safety (EHS) risk. Regulatory bodies including USEPA and the EU's ECHA are just now developing a consistent regulatory framework for the material. Mr. Monica's presentation will cover the most pertinent regulatory issues facing Graphene manufacturers and highlight the most prominent EHS studies that are of interest to companies working in the field. He will conclude with a few practical steps that should be considered by those involved at any level in the research, development, or commercialization of Graphene.
