Well-defined Stimuli Responsive Block Polymers

This paper describes the successful polymerization of well-defined stimuli responsive di- and tri-block copolymers based on amino acid or polypsiudorotaxane, which were synthesized from cyclodextrin and polyether glycol via ATRP under near physiological conditions using various water soluble initiators with high yield and narrow molecular weight distributions. Their lower critical solution temperatures (LCST) were determined by cloud point measurements over a range of pH environments. 1H NMR spectroscopy, static light scattering, and gel permeation chromatography were used to determine polymer molecular weight and polydispersities.
