Special Symposium

Nanofluids are dilute colloids, liquid suspensions of nanoparticles with at least one of their principal dimensions smaller than 100nm. Nanofluids possess enhanced thermophysical properties such as thermal conductivity, thermal diffusivity, viscosity and convective heat transfer coefficients compared to those of base fluids like oil or water. They have generated considerable interest for their potential to increase cooling and heating efficiency in industrial applications such as nuclear reactors, hybrid engines, geothermal energy production, and electronics. This symposium will explore the fundamental properties of nanofluids (a topic of continuing debate) while emphasizing the many applications for these novel nanostructured fluids.

Topics & Application Areas

  • Physical Characterization - thermal properties, rheology, stability & others
  • Heat Transfer Properties - single & two phase heat transfer under flow & static conditions
  • Novel Materials & Synthesis Techniques
  • Applications in the Energy Sector
  • Novel Applications
  • Other
