Design Simulations of a Novel Microdevice for Fluid Pumping, Droplet Generation and Particle Sorting

Summary:

In this study, a MEMS device with cascaded moving boundaries is being developed for fluid pumping, droplet generation and molecule sorting for multiple applications. We conducted design simulations with CFD, and completed fluid-structure interactions, design optimization, silicon fabrication and replica prototyping procedures in developing and demonstrating the proposed microdevice. The design concept, results, findings, and innovations resulting from the study will be presented at the conference.
