Summary:

In this study, we synthesized the anatase single crystalline Branched-TiO2 nanowires (B-NWs) as a photoelectrode for efficient PEC water splitting. To improve visible light absorption of photoelectrode, CdS Quantum-Dot (QD) sensitizer is applied to photoelectrode by chemical bath deposition (CBD) method. B-NWs show better current density than bare NWs because of larger surface area which facilitates the attachment of CdS QD sensitizer. To characterize morphologies and crystal structures of bare NWs and B-NWs, X-ray diffractometer (XRD), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), and High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM) were investigated. Photoelectrochemical properties of NWs-based photoelectrode were investigated through photocurrent-voltage (J-V) characteristics using solar simulator (AM 1.5, 100mA/cm2).
