Abstract:

Alliant TechSystems (ATK) is a U.S. aerospace company located in 22 states. ATK GASL, a division of ATK, operates a world-class aero-propulsion test complex at its facility in Ronkonkoma, New York. There are seven main test facilities that house propulsion systems ranging from subsonic to hypersonic engines to rocket systems. ATK GASL is also ATK’s Center for Energy and Aerospace Innovation (CEAi), where R&D related work is conducted in the areas of fuel cells, alternative energy, fuel cell powered vehicles, aerospace fuel reforming and gasification processes. Our Advanced Concepts Group performs R&D in the areas of micro-technologies, advanced space propulsion, MEMS harsh-environment sensors/diagnostics, underwater vehicles and ISR technologies for Homeland Security. This presentation will present an overview of ATK’s micro-technologies suite for aerospace applications, that include MEMS based systems for shear stress measurements, micro-space propulsion, micro-power generation, flow control, IMUs and aerospace thermal management. ATK would also welcome partnership opportunities (industry, academia, etc) in our quest to develop complete MEMS systems solutions for aerospace applications.
