Green emitting SrAl2O4:Eu2+ nanocones prepared by vapor-liquid-solid growth

Abstract:

SrAl2O4:Eu2+ nanocones were synthesized firstly by thermal evaporation method. The nanocones consist of global Al tips and cone-shaped bodies. The length of the cones ranges from several microns to several hundred microns. Their diameters are several hundred nanometers to several microns at the end adhering to the Al tip and tapers off to a several ten nanometers to several hundred nanometers. The as-synthesized nanocones are single crystalline in monoclinic structure and grow along the [010] direction or the normal direction of the (100) or (001) planes. The room temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectra measurement reveals that SrAl2O4:Eu2+ nanocones emit at 512 nm with a slight blueshfit comparing to bulk materials.
