From qualification testing towards service life assessment of PV-modules

Michael Koehl, physicist, is working in the field of service life analysis with the focus on optical measurements and weathering. He funded the Test Lab for Photovoltaic (type approval of PV-modules according to the IEC standards) at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systemsin Freiburg, Germany, and is leading a German cluster project “PV-reliability” and the Subproject 5 “Lifetime assessment of PV modules” of the EU-project “Performance”. He serves as operating agent of the Task39 on “Polymeric Materials for Solar-Thermal Applications” of the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme of the International Energy Agency.
