Synthesis and optical properties of L-cystine capped ZnS:Co nanoparticles

Abstract:

IV-VI nanocrystalline semiconductors are of great interest for its applications in light emitting devices, fluorescence biosensor, and solar cells [1-4]. Here, we have reported synthesis of cobalt doped ZnS (ZnS:Co) nanoparticles capped with L-cystine by using simple chemical co-precipitation methods. The prepared nanoparticles are characterized for their optical and nanostructural properties. High Resolution Transmission Electron Micrographs and EDX spectrum are taken to confirm the formation of nanoparticles. To confirm the capping of L-cystine in the ZnS:Co nanoparticles FTIR spectra are also recorded. The optical absorption spectra and PL emissions from the samples are measured.
