Preparation of Fe-Co nanoparticles with high coercivity

Abstract:

Magnetic FexCo1-x nanoparticles were produced by chemical coprecipitation route. The effect of cobalt concentration on characterization of the prepared nanoparticles was investigated. XRD result and magnetic measurement shows formation of Fe-Co nanoparticle with hyperfine size, mixed structure and with high coercivity. The maximum coercivity and saturation magnetization was determinded to be at a concentration of 25 at.% cobalt. The coercivity and saturation magnetization of Fe75Co25 obtained to be 625 Oe and 117 emu/g respectively. The average size of particles was determined under 2 nm and for pure iron was 8 nm using XRD method. Production of Fe-Co nanoparticles with high coercivity and fine dimension is the most important properties required for future recording media.
