Los Alamos National Laboratory

Dr. Kirk D. Rector received his BS in Chemistry from Sonoma State University in 1993, and his PHD in Chemistry from Stanford University in 1999. His graduate work with Prof. Michael Fayer involved infrared vibrational echo techniques to study ultrafast vibrational dynamics in liquids, glasses, and proteins. He was the Frederick Reines postdoctoral fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory beginning in 2000 and promoted to Staff in 1993. Currently he is the Materials Chemistry, Sensing and Imaging Team Leader in Chemistry Division at LANL. His research interests involve hyperspectral and high dimensional microscopy of many different complex systems such as human cell drug response, targeted nanosensors, host:pathogen interactions, forensic detection, and image analysis.
