In this work, we report a facile synthetic strategy of preparing novel Pd QDs sensitized TiO2 nanotube arrays (Pd@TiO2NTs) and their excellent performance in photoelectrocatalytic hydrogen production.The hydrogen evolution rate using the prepared Pd@TiO2NTs as both photocathode and photoanode for photoelectrocatalytic water splitting is up to 592 μ mol•h-1•cm-2 in 2 M Na2CO3 + 0.5 M ethylene glycol at -0.3 VSCE. It is indicated that the IPCEmax for the prepared Pd@TiO2NTs photoanode is about 98.6%, while for the photoanode of pure TiO2 nanotubes is only about 69.8%, when using Pd@TiO2NTs as photocathode.
