Exploiting the Intrinsic Nature of Small Scales (invited presentation)

J. Rogers
DARPA, US

Keywords: nanoelectronic

Abstract:

Abstract: Current technology routinely involves engineering both spatial and temporal scales on the boundary between the classical world and the quantum one. This is a fascinating regime, in part, due to the novel forces, mechanisms, and physical relations that are prevalent and, in part, due to the expected advantages in performance characteristics (e.g., power, speed, size, etc.). Traditionally, decoherence has allowed the quantum component to be ignored. This talk will review some recent advances in exploiting the intrinsic nature of small scales instead of ignoring them and discuss the potential technological impacts.
