Special Symposium
Technologies supported by inkjet printing are increasing. Smaller droplets and functional fluids are important drivers of this growth. The Nanotech 2010 Inkjet Symposium has a Call for Papers for a broad spectrum design-to-application event so that scientists can report their findings in this technology growth area. This symposium is targeted towards enhancing the basic understanding of the functional principles of inkjet with respect to research, design and manufacturing. We are looking for papers that describe both the challenges and successes associated with ink jet printhead development and the challenges and successes with functional printing applications. More specifically, applications within the fields of printed electronics, the nanosciences and the biosciences will be covered.
Specific attention will be paid to the physical chemistry of the inkjet process:
- Physical Chemistry of fluids including capillary forces and wetting
- Fluid interactions with internal features of printhead
- Fluid interactions at the printhead nozzle/air interface
- Substrate-fluid interactions post-printing
- Fluid Properties
- Newtonian fluids
- Non-Newtonian fluids
- Particle size and distribution
- Solvent properties
These subjects form the backdrop for discussing how fluid formulators manipulate the chemistry or physics of fluids to get droplet formation, adhesion to the substrate and behavior of the fluid droplets at the substrate surface. The ability to make a functional device due to the success of these parameters will also be discussed.
Authors are invited to submit papers that address theoretical, analytical, experimental and practical treatments of the topics below.
