Simultaneous Positioning and Orientation of a Single Nanorod Using Electro-osmotic Flow Control

Abstract:

We describe a technique for simultaneously controlling the position and orientation of a single nanorod in a fluid by precise manipulation of the flow around the rod. We use vision based feedback control in a microfluidic device with 2-dimensional planar flow that is actuated by electro-osmosis.
