Dr. Ronald R. Chance– Senior Scientific Advisor, Physical Sciences, Algenol Biofuels, Fort Myers, Florida. After graduation from Dartmouth with a PhD in physical chemistry, Dr. Chance began his career with Honeywell Corporation, where he served in a number of research positions including Research Manager for Electronic Materials. In 1986, he joined Exxon as the Director of their Polymers Laboratory, later serving as Division Manager for their Paramins Technology division, and as Distinguished Scientific Advisor in ExxonMobil’s Corporate Strategic Research Laboratories. Dr. Chance retired from ExxonMobil in 2006 and joined the Georgia Tech as Professor of the Practice with a joint appointment in the School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry. He joined Algenol in 2009 as Executive Vice President and Head of Engineering, a position he held until January 2013. Dr. Chance’s primary research interest is CO2 capture, and utilization in biofuel production. Dr. Chance has organized several international scientific meetings and served on numerous university advisory boards. He has published over 170 papers, is an inventor on over 40 US patents, and is a Fellow in the American Physical Socity. He continues his appointment at Georgia Tech, where he also serves as Associate Director of the Strategic Energy Institute.
