TechLink

Ray Friesenhahn is the SBIR and Technology Transition Manager for TechLink, a Defense-wide Partnership Intermediary at Montana State University, formed under the auspices of DoD’s Office of Technology Transition (OTT). He also developed innovative programs to assist Montana companies with SBIR/STTR for all participating agencies, facilitating effective university research partnerships, and supporting commercialization planning through all phases. Ray’s work was recognized with a prestigious 2007 National Tibbetts Award for Individual Achievement, for “Outstanding Contributions to the SBIR Program.” TechLink’s programs have directly helped client companies win over 300 Phase I, II, and III awards valued at over $165 million, while participating Montana companies had award rates more than twice the national averages, benefitting from a strong focus on future commercialization planning. Ray has led over 75 workshops and seminars on SBIR and Technology Transfer and Transition in more than 15 states, including five national conferences, and has helped organize and lead major regional SBIR conferences, including in Texas. He currently serves as a partner representative and DoD liaison to the Advanced Power & Energy Cluster, one of three SBA-sponsored regional innovation clusters nationwide focused on advanced defense technologies.
