Nanomaterials, particularly colloidal nanoparticles, hold great promise for
heterogeneous catalysis due to their large surface area, concentration of
undercoordinated surface sites and their potential for dispersion on the surface of an
oxide or other support. Catalytic nanostructured materials can achieve higher activity
when compared to bulk particles, and also higher selectivity - an important issue in the
development of greener synthesis methods.
This special symposium focuses on the novel design, synthesis, and commercial production
of nanostructured materials for catalysis applications.
