Tropos Networks

GridCom™ 2.0 is an IP standards-based wireless communications architecture for building Smart Grid distribution areas. With GridCom 2.0, utilities can build a single private network across their distribution area that is economical and has the high reliability, strong security, broadband performance/low latency, adaptability, and control to support multiple applications such as distribution automation, AMI backhaul, substation automation, video security, and mobile workforce. GridCom 2.0 is an architectural synthesis of mesh and point-to-multipoint (PTMP) approaches that combines the high-capacity and resiliency aspects of mesh networks with the favorable wide area coverage economics of PTMP systems to create an overall network architecture that provides resilient, high-performance, economical coverage across a wide variety of utility environments.
