Northeast Utilities

Mr. Serna joined Northeast Utilities as Director of Strategy & Business Development in November 2008. He leads the development of the company’s strategic plans around smart grid, energy storage, energy efficiency and electric transportation. He works closely with the operating units in developing the company’s annual five-year strategic plan. Finally he also leads the company’s research and development process and investments.

Prior to joining NU, Camilo worked for 9 years with Oliver Wyman, formerly Mercer Management Consulting. Camilo was member of Oliver Wyman’s Energy & Utility practice helping more than 20 large utility and energy companies in Europe, Latin America and North America with a wide variety of strategic, operational and organizational issues.

He holds an industrial engineering degree from Universidad de Los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia) and an MBA with concentrations in finance, strategy and organizational behavior from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

He is member of the Strategy Committee for the Institute for Electric Efficiency and the Electric Utilization Sector Council for the Electric Power and Research Institute (EPRI).

Camilo is also the member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Riverfront Recapture, an non-for-profit organization dedicated in reconnecting Hartford with the Connecticut River.
