Dr. Wilson has broad experience solving alternative fuel and emission control problems associated with automotive and stationary engines, power plant boilers, and industrial furnaces. He has worked on new combustion technology for diesel and spark-ignition engines, burners, furnaces, and gas turbines. Dr. Wilson managed a successful development of a novel hydrogen-assisted Landfill Gas Engine for the California Energy Commission. He also led an in-depth assessment of heavy-duty truck engine technologies to reduce fuel consumption and presented the findings to the National Research Council. He also led an investigation of how automotive engines could be redesigned and optimized to benefit from the properties of ethanol (E85 to E100). Dr. Wilson received his B.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Princeton University and a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics from the University of California, San Diego. He is a member of the Combustion Institute, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Automotive Engineers.
