Clean Technology 2011

Teleos Solar

Location:MA, US
Speaker:Michael McGonigle
Title:CEO
Primary Industry:Solar Power
Executive Summary:Teleos Solar is developing a novel thin-film semiconductor material manufacturing process that will greatly improve material performance and reduce production cost in high volume thin-film manufacturing. The technology offers CIGS (Copper, Indium, Gallium, Selenium) solar cell/module manufacturers a way to significantly boost manufactured solar cell efficiency, increase throughput, and attain production costs under $0.50/watt. Our solution enables grid parity and market lead positioning in all end-market segments. The technical team has over 35 years combined experience in semiconductor crystal growth research and developed a proprietary technology that has the potential to create over $5 billion in economic value in CIGS solar manufacturing, annually, by 2020. We plan to develop and introduce key process step equipment for integration into CIGS manufacturing. The plan will require approximately $8 million over five years, through three development stages. The CIGS production equipment market is estimated to exceed $10 Billion per year, by 2020, with the Teleos addressable market in the range of $1 Billion annually. Overall, we envision our process will emerge as the optimal platform used in manufacturing of CIGS solar cells and other thin-film semiconductor applications, such as flexible electronics. We are presently seeking seed investment to demonstrate the technology.
