George Goodman is Architect for Intel’s Open Energy Initiative, defining Intel’s perspective on the architecture of the coming intelligent electrical supply network (“Smart Grid”). In this role, he also drives international standards efforts pertaining to Smart Grid issues and cross-company alignment with appropriate standards. Prior to his current role since 1980, George has led technology and product development in a variety of Intel organizations – some in Research, most in product Development -- ranging in size from 7 to 200+ employees creating products ranging from full computer systems through communications products to branded consumer audio offerings, at Intel, Sequent, Xerox, and Bell Labs. In addition, George led the Liberty Alliance Project as its elected President for 2005 & 2006. The Liberty Alliance is a cross-industry identity and authentication standards and policy organization with about 150 members from the technology, communications, governmental, and academic worlds. George earned his Ph. D. in Cognitive Psychology from the University of California, San Diego in 1980 following his Bachelor of Sciences in Psychology from the University of Florida in 1976. George lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife Marsha. Their sons Joel and Alden have moved “out,” but still live in the Portland area, too. Beyond work, George is an avid photographer and advocate for creative use of virtual world technologies.
