Dr. Goodman has over 35 years of experience in the electric utility business. He has created and managed major programs in photovoltaics, wind power, distributed energy resources, and smart grid technology, while in various positions that he has held with SDG&E, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), and Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. He holds a Bachelor of Science, Master of Science, and PhD, all in electrical engineering from UC Santa Barbara (UCSB). He is a registered electrical engineer in California. He has an MBA from Pepperdine University. He has been a lecturer in electrical engineering at UCSB, University of Southern California, and Loyola Marymount University. He holds three patents in power electronics related to smart power distribution systems. He led a team that won an R&D 100 Award for a high-efficiency photovoltaic cell. He is the only prior EPRI employee to have won three Chauncey Awards, which are EPRI’s highest employee recognition award.
