This presentation provides an understanding of what is involved in obtaining representative Raman measurements of carbon nanotubes and other carbon nanomaterials. Raman spectroscopy is proving to be a valuable measurement technique for characterizing carbon nanomaterials. Like any measurement, it is important to understand what is actually represented before attempting to draw conclusions. Typical samples of carbon nanomaterials include a range of related structures with diverse characteristics. Our goal is to provide a good understanding of what is represented in a Raman spectrum and how to optimize the measurement to insure that you are capturing information needed to support routine analytical measurements of carbon nanotubes and related nanomaterials. We will also discuss how Thermo Scientific DXR Raman instruments are ideally suited to these types of measurements.
