Andrew Parker, Ph.D., has a technical background in colloid and surface science. After completing his undergraduate studies at the University of Bristol, UK in 1996, Andrew performed research for his doctorate at the Bristol Colloid Centre. This involved the synthesis, characterization, and biocompatibility of phosphorylcholine containing surfactants, polymeric films, polymer latices, and lyophilised compositions. The purpose of the work was to better understand the role phosphorylcholine plays in reducing unfavourable biological responses when it is incorporated within polymer coatings designed to coat various types of biomedical devices. A key part of the study evaluated the surface of 100 nm–10 micron size particles functionalised with phosphorylcholine in terms of their interactions, stability, and surface structure.

Andrew performed post-doctorate research at the University of Bristol and then spent time working as a technical assistant in a European firm of patent attorneys in London. Andrew then worked for a contract research organization in the southwest as a project scientist before joining Molecular Profiles in 2004.

Andrew is now an associate director at Molecular Profiles with responsibility for studies utilising analytical techniques pertinent to characterising pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical products.
