I.P. Brief:A novel, giant magnetoresistive (GMR) sensor has demonstrated orders of magnitude higher sensitivity than ELISA-based assays in detecting the dangerous methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). Importantly, this technology holds the promise of providing definitive patient diagnosis in minutes, at the point-of-care, thus saving lives and significant hospital expenses.
